Holiday Garden Maintenance!

Holiday Garden Maintenance!

Water the garden thoroughly before you leave and make sure it has at least 2 inches of mulch around the plants to hold in water and moisture while you're gone.
It’s also advisable to remove any weeds before embarking on your trip as they will steal water from your plants.
Investing in a drip hose (available from both Pugh’s Garden Villages) will ensure the garden stays saturated by emitting smaller amounts of water over a longer period of time — providing an ideal way of watering the garden year-round.
Digging out irrigation trenches around the plants and between rows will help prevent water runoff and allow the plants to soak up any available water.
Moisture mats, self-watering pots and swell-gel (available from both Pugh’s Garden Villages) will provide ample moisture for potted plants.
Move plant away from direct sunlight and lower hanging baskets to minimize exposure.
Ask family members, friends or neighbours to check your plants from time to time to make sure everything is kept in check.
